Although we are equal opportunity drinkers all year long, winter is definitely prime RED WINE season. And not that we are folks who sit back and watch anything…but January is prime sports viewing season. You’ve got NFL playoffs, NHL hockey, and NBA and NCAA basketball all happening at once. Put all that together and it’s a great time of year to become acquainted with The Calling Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.

Created as a passion project between Emmy-winning sports commentator Jim Nantz and wine and spirits CEO Peter Deutsch, The Calling offers an array of exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from various AVAs and single vineyard sites in Sonoma, California. The Calling Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is sourced from several vineyards in the Russian River AVA and then aged on the lees for 11 months in oak under the direction of winemakers Dan Goldfield and James MacPhail.

The Calling Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2016 is dark cherry in the glass, with a nose of raspberry, fresh ground pepper, and clove. It is full in the mouth, with flavors of black cherry, pomegranate, white chocolate and anise that wind down to a long, slightly spicy finish.
